Seeking the 'story behind the numbers'
More than 100 federal financial leaders and senior leaders of advisory groups share insights on transparency, risk and cost management, and future challenges.
What: The 2013 Federal CFO Survey by the Association of Government Accountants and Grant Thornton.
Why: Included in the survey were more than 100 federal financial leaders and senior leaders of advisory groups who were asked about issues such as transparency, risk and cost management, and future challenges.
Verbatim: "In-person respondents overwhelming agree on the need for a more analytic CFO organization. They note the need to provide customers with analysis, not just data, or they want to get data to managers in usable formats. One CFO says, 'Management needs the story behind the numbers.' Others note that, while a more analytic CFO organization is needed, they are not there yet."
