Turco to leave Veterans Health Administration
The chief financial officer will retire at year's end, capping a 32-year federal career.
Veterans Health Administration CFO Kathleen Turco is retiring after 32 years of federal service.
Kathleen Turco, the Veterans Health Administration's chief financial officer, is leaving government.
She announced her retirement plans to staff in an Oct. 30 email message, saying that "after 32 years of federal service," her final day would Dec. 30. Mark Yow, VHA's associate CFO, will take over in an acting capacity before then so that Turco can focus on closing out several programs in her final weeks.
Before joining the Department of Veterans Affairs, Turco worked at the General Services Administration -- first as CFO and then as associate administrator for governmentwide policy. She also served as GSA's acting deputy administrator for a time and has held various roles at the IRS and the Office of Management and Budget.
Turco did not specify her post-retirement plans but said in her note to staff that she looks forward to "continuing to pursue efficient and effective government in the private sector."
