Forest Service CIO wanted

The U.S. Forest Service is seeking a CIO. Longtime CIO Doug Nash left in February to join the Agriculture Department's CIO office, leaving Josiah Kim as acting CIO, a Forest Service spokesman confirmed.

Although the next CIO must be able to tackle technical problems -- including software procurement, data management and cybersecurity -- the job posting stresses the importance of people skills, from team building to negotiation.

The Forest Service oversees 154 national forests and 20 grasslands across most of the U.S., and the CIO might also play a role in consulting with state and local governments' land management teams.

The job is a Senior Executive Service position in a relatively narrow salary range of $170,000 to $177,000.

The Forest Service will be accepting applications through April 12.
