OAI's Liddell promoted at White House

Chris Liddell, a top White House tech aide, has been tapped as the White House's deputy chief of staff for policy coordination.

In his new role, Liddell will report to White House Chief of Staff John Kelly.

"Chris is widely respected across the administration and is highly qualified to oversee and coordinate our policy process," said Kelly. "We look forward to having him in this new role."

Liddell, currently the president's director of strategic initiatives, has served in the White House as the director of the American Technology Council and member of the Jared Kushner-headed Office of American Innovation.

Liddell will continue his current work with OAI and will oversee the policy process for that office as well, according to a White House official.

Liddell, a former chief financial officer at Microsoft and General Motors, helped lead White House efforts to reduce IT spending -- work that earned him a 2018 Federal 100 Award. He also served as executive director of the Mitt Romney campaign's transition team in 2012. Liddell joined the Trump team to help assist with the transition.

The elevation was first reported by Politico and comes amid numerous personnel changes within the West Wing.
