The Federal Acquisition Service at the General Services Administration is looking for a permanent assistant commissioner for assisted acquisition services (AAS), a position left open after a spate of recent personnel moves.

GSA made Julie Dunne permanent commissioner in late January. Dunne had been acting commissioner since the previous commissioner, Alan Thomas, left for a job in the private sector in October.

Along with Dunne's permanent FAS appointment, GSA also named agency veteran Tom Howder, as permanent FAS deputy commissioner. Howder had been AAS assistant commissioner, but he had been serving as FAS acting deputy commissioner since November 2018. He has been with GSA for more than 30 years.

According to the job description posted on USAjobs, the AAS assistant commissioner's duties include leading the service's portfolio of business services, client service centers in FAS regional offices and directly supervising the national Federal Systems Integration and Management Center CSC.

GSA is accepting online applications for the position until Feb. 26.
