GSA seeks cyber expert for TMF
The Technology Modernization Fund program management office is continuing to scale up with a new position to help review cybersecurity projects.
The General Services Administration is seeking a cybersecurity expert to serve as an IT program manager for the Technology Modernization Fund program office.
The opening, which was posted at the GS-15 level on USAJobs, is a reflection of the increasing importance of cybersecurity in projects paid for out of the $1 billion-plus no-year revolving fund authorized by the Modernizing Government Technology Act.
The successful applicant will serve "as a respected authority and spokesperson on a diverse range of high-level cybersecurity issues" in briefings to colleagues and senior administration officials, as well as the TMF Board.
GSA has direct hire authority to fill this post, and can field candidates via response to the publicly posted ad, or through other recruitment channels.
Security is one of two key criteria listed on the TMF website when it comes to assessing projects' impact on agencies' missions.
Qualifications for the post include specialized experience in overseeing cybersecurity architecture initiatives for IT projects and IT-related experience in four core competencies, like customer service and oral communication.
A GSA spokesperson previously told FCW the program management office "continues to scale to meet the needs of the TMF" following a $1 billion cash infusion through the American Rescue Plan last year. The expansion of the TMF program management office has involved "actively adding additional staff members from within [GSA]" and "looking at options including detailees from across the government for surge and expertise support," the spokesperson added.
