Drew Myklegard named permanent deputy federal CIO

Myklegard had been serving in the role on an acting basis after the departure of Maria Roat at the end of March.
David "Drew" Myklegard is now deputy federal chief information officer, the Office of Management and Budget confirmed to FCW.
Myklegard had been serving in the deputy role on an acting basis since the retirement of Maria Roat at the end of March 2022. Before moving to OMB, Myklegard served in several senior tech roles in the Department of Veterans Affairs, including executive director of project engineering and senior advisor to the agency's CIO.
At VA, Myklegard took the lead on multiple high-visibility, transformative projects including commercial cloud adoption and digital service delivery. He also spearheaded the development of an API platform called Lighthouse that connects developers with VA data feeds for the purpose of creating online tools and applications. The Lighthouse effort was cited in Myklegard's 2020 Federal 100 award from FCW. Myklegard is also a member of the U.S. Army Reserves.
