DHS names a new CISO

Hemant Baidwan will be in charge of securing DHS information technology systems.
The Department of Homeland Security has tapped a new chief information security officer: Hemant Baidwan will take up the position April 7, a DHS spokesperson has confirmed to Nextgov/FCW.
Baidwan takes over from former DHS CISO Kenneth Bible, who retired from federal service this month after just over three years in the role, according to his LinkedIn.
Baidwan isn’t new to the department. He's served as deputy CISO since 2021 and been at DHS for over eight years, per his LinkedIn page.
Baidwan’s resume also includes leadership in the Hack DHS Program, meant to find vulnerabilities in DHS’s cybersecurity landscape, and the implementation of the Unified Cybersecurity Maturity Model, according to DHS.
Antonino “Nino” Scimemi, currently the deputy CISO at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and acting director of IT operations, will take up Baidwin’s old position as acting deputy CISO.
