Lewis focused on modernization and artificial intelligence solutions during her tenure.

On Tuesday, the General Services Administration announced that Ann Lewis, the agency’s Technology Transformation Services director and deputy commissioner of the Federal Acquisition Service, will leave her post on Nov. 22.

Lewis’s work at the agency was focused on modernization efforts, with USA.gov, Login.gov, FedRAMP and GSA’s digital consulting office, 18F, under her purview. She told Nextgov/FCW in July that incorporating emerging technology solutions like artificial intelligence was another priority during her tenure, as was “helping people understand how to do implementation management a little more effectively.”

“Under Ann’s leadership, TTS has helped deliver better digital services to millions of Americans, all while keeping our values of secure, accessible and responsible technology top of mind,” GSA Administrator Robin Carnahan said in a press release. “Going forward, I know that TTS will continue to lead the way, evolve to meet our fast-changing environment, stay focused on harnessing the potential of technology, provide great customer experiences and prove every day that our democracy can and does deliver.”

TTS Deputy Director Mukunda Penugonde will be stepping up to serve in the acting director and deputy commissioner roles.

“Every day, we’ve shown that innovation is possible in government, and that we can pragmatically bring best practices and expertise from the private sector into government in ways that actually work and make government more effective,” Lewis said in the press release. “I have been inspired every day by the brilliance, grit and ingenuity of TTS.”
