California Hires San Diego DP Corp. for Y2K Work

California's Department of Information Technology last week hired San Diego Data Processing Corp. to provide Year 2000 compliance services. The contract, valued at $500,000, is the first of three state consulting contracts SDDPC (www.sddpc.org) has in the works.

After competing with several private corporations for the work, the corporation -- a non-profit 'public benefit' organization started in 1979 -- won the contract with California based on its work converting 4 million lines of code for the City of San Diego.

"This relationship with SDDPC is a good example of how state and local governments can interface on selected projects," said Eli Cortez, California's chief information officer. SDDPC in March retained a spot on the California Multiple Awards Schedule program.
