Adobe, Covansys join for state and local

Adobe Systems and integrator Covansys are teaming to provide forms-oriented solutions to state and local government customers.

Adobe provides its LiveCycle software for creating intelligent forms, while Covansys contributes its experience in social services systems and other government applications. The alliance initially focuses on unemployment benefits and services. The companies have developed a solution that lets applicants download and complete forms and submit them electronically or as paper.

Tim Boyle, strategic business development manager at Adobe, said Covansys has been deploying Adobe-based unemployment benefits solutions for a few years. The alliance, however, formalizes the companies’ pursuit of that market, he added.

Boyle added that the companies also plan to pursue opportunities in public employee retirement systems and Universal Commercial Code electronic filings. Motor vehicle administrations represent a potential market over the longer term, he added.

Covansys’ state and local integration projects cover areas such as health and human services, motor vehicles, unemployment insurance and homeland security.

Adobe now seeks other integrators for public-sector alliances. “Adobe is evaluating the marketplace in government – federal vs. state and local – to select a few key integrators to jointly go to market with,” Boyle said. The idea, he said, is to focus on a repeatable solution offering with the integration partners.
