Symantec has completed the acquisition of Sygate Technologies, bring Sygate's market presence in network access control solutions into the Symantec fold.

Sygate brings expertise in endpoint compliance, technology that ensures that all devices connected to a network – desktop and laptop computers, servers, and mobile devices – are running the appropriate security solutions and are otherwise in compliance and up-to-date.

Drawing on Sygate's strengths, Symantec plans to develop a comprehensive endpoint security offering for both managed and unmanaged devices.

Symantec will continue to sell current Sygate solutions under the Sygate brand, while rebranding the next versions in the next six months. After that, Symantec will integrate the Sygate technology into its security products.
