CSC chooses new federal head
Computer Sciences Corp. has appointed James Sheaffer as president of the federal business unit.
Computer Sciences Corp. has appointed James Sheaffer as president of the integrator's federal business unit. Sheaffer has been with CSC since leaving American Management Systems in 2002. Since 2003 until his new promotion, he served as vice president of Internal Revenue Service programs in the federal sector unit's civil agency group.
In his new role, Sheaffer will report to CSC President and Chief Operating Officer Mike Laphen.
"Jim's extensive experience and broad IT industry knowledge make him an ideal candidate for this position," Laphen said in a written statement.
Before joining CSC, Sheaffer worked at AMS for 27 years, ending his tenure there after serving four years as senior vice president and COO for the company's telecommunications industry practice in North America and Europe.
Sheaffer, a Navy veteran, also led AMS' entry into the Asia Pacific and Latin America regions, and served from 1990 to 1998 as European general manager.
Paul Cofoni, former president of CSC's federal unit, left the company in July and joined CACI as president of that firm's federal division.
