LANDesk buys software vendor

The acquisition adds business process management to the company's security management software.

LANDesk Software has acquired the assets of NewRoad Software, a move that broadens the systems and security management vendor's scope to include business process management.

The purchase will allow LANDesk to integrate NewRoad’s Autobahn tool into its products. Autobahn allows users to change business processes on the fly, which LANDesk said is an important capability in the government market. Autobahn is based on Microsoft’s .NET software development platform.

LANDesk offers its products to government agencies through resellers including CDW Government and Insight Public Sector.

In a September 2005 report, WinterGreen Research predicted that the market for business process management software will reach $2.4 billion by 2011. The 2004 market stood at $884.4 million, according to the company.
