Safavian found guilty

Phones have been ringing for anybody who has worked at GSA or at OMB with the news that David Safavian, the former administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy and the former GSA chief of staff, was found guilty today. Here is the WP story.

It is interesting that Safavian gets convicted on the same day that his replacement is having his confirmation hearing. (The confirmation hearing story is being written right now.)

We have not actively covered this story because, well, it isn't really a government IT story... other than its impacts and ramifications. Those will be significant, I seems to me.

We will include his conviction in print this week because it is a matter of record, but all the details of the trail and the Abramoff stuff isn't really a government IT story... at least so far.

But the case has been fascinating to watch.
