IPv6 on the radio this week

IPv6 is on the FCW radio show this week. UPDATE: Here is the link to the show if you want to listen to it.

As I have written about previously, FCW does a weekly half-hour radio program, which airs here in Washington, D.C., on Federal News Radio AM 1050 at 10:30a ET each Thursday. Federal News Radio also broadcasts online over the station's Web site at federalnewsradio.com. Specifically, you can see the Federal News Radio FCW page here.

All of them are available for streaming or download as a podcast on FCW's multimedia page at www.fcw.com/multimedia.

So the IPv6 show features Federal News Radio's Adam Tuss and me as well as FCW technology editor Rutrell Yasin and FCW associate editor Michael Hardy... and we talk about the package of stories we have in this week's issue that we called "FCW's transition guide for IPv6."

IPv6 may be a bit dense for radio, but...

The package came together great -- kudos to Hardy, who spearheaded the effort -- but perhaps the story I enjoyed the most answers the qeustion, "What every happened to IPv5?" That question actually came up in a webinar that we did on IPv6 and I was fascinated by the question, so I made sure we found out and reported back.

I might also mention that A Few Minutes with...Adam Tuss, who hosts the radio show, will be featured on FlipSide (the back page) in the issue that will hit the streets on Monday. Tuss is young -- well, as I near the big 4-ohhh in just more than a week, he is young -- but he is a real pro. He and I got along almost immediately and so I think we really enjoy doing the show... and I think the show is better for it. We even had Adam and his girlfriend over for dinner one night and had a great time. He's a good guy and great on the show... so, if you have heard him, you can see what he looks like!

On next week's show, we'll talk Microsoft's Vista and Office as the software giant prepares for those packages to hit the streets later this year.
