The Commercial Satellite Broadband Program, currently being tested aboard the mine countermeasures ship USS Champion, is part of SPAWAR's plan to upgrade and consolidate its satellite communications with ships at sea. CSBP relies on leased commercial satellite capacity and will soon be deployed aboard additional small ships such as mine countermeasures ships and frigates.
