Joint Chiefs chairman opts for richer social media to get the word out
Defense Department official shifts away from static forms of communication and toward more interactive types, according to a news report.
Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is turning to social media as the primary means of spreading information and urging discussions among audiences, according to a recent news report.
Mullen's new social media strategy offers more interaction than an e-mailed PDF file, according to a May 6 news report from NextGov. He issued a memo detailing the new strategy in a March 23 memo.
From now on, communications will include embedded links to sources of information and be capable of using various multimedia approaches, such as video and pictures, to meet the demands of today's audience that has grown accustomed to those forms of interaction, Mullen decreed.
