CIO's Office Re-launches IT Dashboard

The Office of Management and Budget on Tuesday launched an updated version of its two-year-old Federal IT Dashboard, which was created to better track government technology spending.

The re-launched dashboard includes more detail about supporting projects that were previously rolled in with their parent projects, according to a blog post from federal Chief Information Officer Steven VanRoekel. It also includes more detailed information about what category each investment fits into.

The Government Accountability Office has urged the CIO's office to publish more detailed category information about IT investments so agencies can reduce duplication. VanRoekel has listed increasing shared services within and between agencies as a major goal of his time in office.

The updated dashboard also includes information about IT portions of the president's fiscal 2013 budget and tools that allow users to easily pull graphs and data from the dashboard onto other websites and documents.
