SAIC wins $271 million Army IT job

The 10year contract will provide a wide range of IT support services to more than 450 information systems at the Army's personnel command

The Total Army Personnel Command (Perscom) awarded Science Applications International Corp. a 10-year, $271 million contract to support more than 450 Army automated personnel information processing systems.

SAIC will provide Perscom with all the required information technology and communications resources to support the systems as well as hardware and software upgrades and support services. The SAIC contract, awarded through the Federal Systems Integration and Management Center, also calls for SAIC to help Perscom plan and develop future IT solutions.

Richard How, manager of SAIC's technology applications group, said the company's "common approach to software development and maintenance" as well as coherent systems engineering will enhance existing Perscom information systems and provide "a more rigorous environment" in which to develop future enterprisewide systems.
