Army intell commander steps in

Brig. Gen. Keith Alexander assumed command of the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command on Feb. 15, becoming the 10th commanding general of the Army's global operational intelligence force.

Alexander succeeds Maj. Gen. Robert Noonan Jr., who is now Army deputy chief of staff for intelligence.

"[Alexander] has served in our most demanding intelligence positions and has excelled in all of them," Noonan said. "Along the way, he has earned a reputation as a visionary, caring officer who gets the best out of all his people and the organization as a whole."

Alexander has just completed a tour as director of intelligence at the U.S. Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla. He also has served as commander of several military intelligence units and is a former deputy director for intelligence on the Joint Staff, Defense Intelligence Agency.

As Inscom commander, Alexander will lead the way in conducting intelligence,, security and information operations for military commanders and national decision-makers. He also will guide a workforce that collects intelligence information in all disciplines.
