Agriculture appoints new eGov council members
Nine members join new USDA Technology and eGovernment Advisory Council.
The Agriculture Department has appointed nine members to the new USDA Technology and eGovernment Advisory Council. The council members will have a term of two years.“The input of the Advisory Council members will be important as we set priorities for our information technology initiatives and investments at USDA,” Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman said. The Advisory Council was chartered in October to advise Veneman and CIO Scott Charbo in planning and developing strategies for technology and eGov projects, including IT investments. The Advisory Council is chartered for two years until October 2005. The council’s first meeting will be June 10.The new members include:
- Carol Coren, Community Program Specialist, Food Innovation Center, Oregon State University, Portland, Ore.
- Warren Hammerbeck, agricultural producer and president, Reliance Enterprises, Greeley, Colo.
- Kevin Gamble, CTO, American Distance Education Consortium, Gary, N.C.
- Mark Johnson, executive director, North Dakota Association of Counties, Bismarck, N.D.
- Sally Mancini, program director, End Hunger Connecticut! Inc., Hartford, Conn.
- Jennie Meeker, consultant, C&M Capitolink LLC, Washington, D.C., and council chair
- Umesh Narendra Sanjanwala, director, Information Management, Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce, Jackson, Miss.
- Erasmo Trevino, district director, USDA Farm Service Agency, Franklin, Texas
- Christopher Werner, owner/CEO, eSummits Inc., Long Beach, Calif.
