DISA picks CA anti-spyware
SAIC will provide CA eTrust PestPatrol and related training across the Defense Department.
The Defense Information Systems Agency awarded a $6.9 million task order contract for Defense Department enterprisewide anti-spyware software eTrust PestPatrol from Computer Associates.
DISA awarded the task order to Science Applications International Corp. through the Information Assurance contract. Besides software the contract will include virtual on-demand and classroom training. DISA said it would test the software for 120 days at a limited number of DOD installations.
The eTrust PestPatrol Corporate edition is server-based, anti-spyware software sold on a per-seat basis, with current pricing at Internet shopping sites running about $11 a seat. The software scans, detects and eliminates spyware, keyloggers, adware, Trojan horses and hacker tools.
DOD users can also buy a stand-alone version of eTrust PestPatrol for use on their personal computers. Retail price of the stand-alone version is a little less than $40.
