L-3 lands Air Force research contract

The Air Force's science and technology program is exploring new technologies to improve warfighter readiness, logistics processes.

The Air Force has awarded a $240.9 million contract to L-3 Communications for work on an airmen-readiness science and technology program. Officials announced the award July 21.

The contractor will aid in researching, developing, demonstrating, evaluating and transitioning new technologies and methods to improve warfighter readiness and logistics processes related to the Air Force’s air expeditionary forces, according to a Defense Department statement.

The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract lasts through 2010. The Air Force Research Laboratory located in Mesa, Ariz., will host the program
