Stacy Mendler will oversee day-to-day operations and company strategy.
Alion Science and Technology, an employee-owned technology solutions provider to the government, has named Stacy Mendler its first chief operating officer.
She will oversee the day-to-day operations of the company, according to a company statement. Mendler has more than 20 years’ experience in the defense and aerospace industries, most recently focused on implementing corporate strategies.
Before her appointment, Mendler was Alion’s executive vice president and chief administrative officer. She was instrumental in the company’s 2002 employee buyout of a not-for-profit company to form Alion
The COO is part of the Office of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “Over the past four years, Alion has grown very dramatically,” said Bahman Atefi, the company’s chairman and CEO. “Establishing the COO position is a necessary element of the company’s vision and continued growth.”
Alion’s Defense Department technology works includes naval architecture and marine engineering; defense operations; systems engineering; modeling and simulation; information management; chemical, biological, nuclear and environmental sciences; wireless spectrum engineering; and industrial technology. Based in McLean, Va., Alion has more than 3,700 employee-owners at major offices, customer sites and laboratories worldwide.
