Lockheed Martin taps Linda Gooden as executive VP

Linda Gooden will succeed retiring Michael Camardo as executive vice president of Lockheed Martin Information and Technology Services, effective Jan. 1, 2007, the giant defense contractor announced today.Gooden, 53, will report directly to Bob Stevens, the company's chairman, president and chief executive officer. She will be responsible for all business operations and activities of the corporation’s $4 billion I&TS unit, which primarily provides services to the federal government.Gooden has served as president of Lockheed Martin Information Technology, based in Seabrook, Md., since 1997 and has been largely responsible for growing the business from a small, one-customer, one-contract division to a 14,000-employee enterprise providing IT services to federal agencies at more than 60 locations in 18 countries, according to the company.In October, she took on additional responsibilities when she was appointed deputy executive vice president at I&TS.Gooden previously served as vice president of Lockheed Martin’s Software Support Services unit and earlier held other positions within the corporation’s Data Systems and Information Systems companies. She joined Lockheed Martin in 1980 after working at General Dynamics.U.S. Black Engineer and Information Technology magazine named Gooden its 2006 Black Engineer of the Year. She is active in many professional, academic and civic organizations, including the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association International; the Information Technology Association of America; the University of Maryland’s A. James Clark School of Engineering and Robert H. Smith School of Business’ Center for Electronic Markets and Enterprises; the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education; and the Executive Leadership Council.
