White House announces new CIO

Roger L. Stone was announced as a top IT advisor to President Donald Trump as part of a raft of personnel announcements on Feb. 2.

Stone has been on the job for a while. He replaced Chris Herndon as the Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of White House IT in October, Stone confirmed.

The White House CIO role, created by executive order in 2015, coordinates policy for the Executive Office of the President and oversees the IT budget and systems used by the White House.

Previously, Stone worked on the National Security Council as the deputy senior director for resilience policy. Before joining the White House in 2018, he worked at the Federal Emergency Management Agency as an executive for its National Continuity Programs Directorate and as the deputy assistant administrator.
