VA to Begin COVID-19 Vaccinations at 128 More Sites 

Select Veterans Affairs Department health care personnel and veterans will begin receiving COVID-19 vaccinations this week, according to VA Secretary Robert Wilkie.

VA, one of several agencies that will receive specific vaccine allocations, aims to deliver the first vaccines to high-risk staff and patients as part of a multi-tiered plan. VA’s plan now involves two vaccines—Pfizer’s and Moderna’s, the latter of which received an emergency use authorization Dec. 18—that will roll out to 128 VA sites across the country.

“Having a second COVID-19 vaccine will enable us to reach more facilities and vaccinate more health care personnel and Veterans in additional parts of the country,” Wilkie said in a statement. “We continue to implement our COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Plan and are grateful to be one step closer to seeing the end of this pandemic.”

According to VA’s distribution plan, health care personnel, community living center patients and spinal cord unit residents will receive the first vaccine doses. As vaccine supplies increase, VA intends to offer the vaccine to all veterans and VA employees who want to be vaccinated.
